An award ceremony speech is a type of public performance that is claimed on the occasion of a rewarding ceremony. Depending on the event and the type of acknowledgment, the content of the speech may vary from showing appreciation for the award simply saying, “I’m happy to hold this award in my hands” to giving thanks to all who have contributed to gaining a particular award.
Before you write it's a really good idea to have a handle on what a welcome speech does, or its functions. There are several. The most obvious is that it signals the start of any special event or occasion requiring a formal opening. For instance a meeting, a lecture, a workshop, or a celebration could all be officially opened with a welcome speech.Ask someone associated with the award ceremony what the time constraints are for an acceptance speech. If he is unsure of a set time, err on the side of keeping the speech brief, such as a minute or less. Write out the speech. Do not write out every single word, but instead key remarks and people to thank.The opening remarks for a graduation ceremony help set the mood for the event. As in any public speech, it should grab the attention of the audience and convey the importance of the day.
