What is a correlation in a scatter graph? If the data in a scatter graph generally forms a pattern of a straight line with a positive gradient, we have a positive correlation (longer fish tend to be heavier, in the example) and if the line has negative gradient, it's a negative correlation- that's longer fish tending to be less heavy, in the example.
